So I went a little nuts...

I ran a ton of errands on Monday, probably more than I should of while I'm still recovering from surgery. However I did run the most important errand of all and man does it feel good. I made it to the scrapbook store!!!!!!!!!!!! It has been a super long Lent but it is finally over. As many of you know I gave up scrapbook supply shopping for Lent and it was a huge sacrifice, but I made it. I feel so much better. I'm glad that I did it, but I'm also glad it is over.

I got paper, grungeboard, fantastic mesh, a new magazine, lots of embellishments and the "hidden" scallop border punch at Target. (I had a little bounce in my step as I left the store with that puppy).
On a side note I also felt like a pretty cool person the other day. Elizabeth Kartchner, Creating Keepsakes Scrapbooker of the Year, visited MY blog and left a comment. How cool is that?! My husband was not as excited as I was and mentioned something about how weird scrapbooking is but whatever. After laying around all day being bored to tears and too sore to do anything significant, having that little conversation with her on the message board AND that she checked out my blog, well it made my day.

Here's a LO that I did about last summer at the pool. I can't wait for the warm weather, pools and amusements parks. We are all stir crazy and ready to get outside and play. Enjoy!

Post Op Day Two

Thanks for all the well wishes, I made it through my surgery pretty well and am trying to do as little as possible, which is tough for me. I finished Colin's cake last night in between shifts of ice packs but was pretty happy with the results even if I did forget the bunny's nose. (Hey I was taking a decent amount of pain meds.) This was my first attempt at decorating a cake like this. Colin was so excited to take it to daycare today and share it with his friends. I like making sure that he is not the "poor allergy kid," who is eating crackers when everyone else has a yummy snack. Hopefully he will have a ton a great cake and get to feel excited that his Mom made it for him. Here's a picture!

All Night Long.....

Well the plan for tonight...well this morning is to just stay up. I'm having my gallbladder taken out in the morning, (bummer) so rather than going to sleep I figured I would finish some projects that I have been working on. I figured it's not that big of a deal since I will be sleeping all day tomorrow anyway. I've been working hard to make sure everything is in order as much as possible so that my recruitments can fill in for me for the next few days until I'm feeling better. Colin's birthday is on Sunday and his Easter party at school is on Thursday so I was going to make cupcakes but thought...what the heck...I don't have anything else to do why don't I make a bunny cake. So right now I'm freezing the cake rounds so they are a little sturdier to work with and then I'll frost them. Staying busy helps me keep my mind off of the next few days. I'll post pics of the cake when it is completed. Hopefully I'll finish it before I'm on pain pills so the poor bunny doesn't have too many ears or something. Wish me luck tomorrow.

Here's a new layout about DS in the nudey cutie counting his bath toys...aka mold collectors. Enjoy!

And Another....

New Layouts

I was at my LSS getting scans of my layouts. They have an awesome scanner and I am always shocked by the detail it is able to pick up. There are a few page calls coming up that I plan on submitting to. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Do you even just set your mind to do something and just do it? My Mom always said I could be whatever I wanted when I grew up....I think she meant a doctor but professional designer works too. Here is new layout about candy. I know it seems simple but this was a big deal for us. Colin has a lemon allergy and that hides in so much "natural flavoring" and the companies are under no obligation to tell us the source of the flavoring. So we can't take the chance and anything that has natural flavoring is not an option. Then we found Dum Dums.....there are no food proteins that my son could react to. Just sugar and other artificial junk. Works for us! Enjoy!

Posts

I just wanted to answer a few questions that have been posted. I'm not sure how to reply to the posts in the comment section so I figured I would just do this.
1. Allergy cupcakes-cupcakes made without my DS's allergens
2. His allergies are Milk, Egg, Turkey, Beef, Lemon, Oats, and Soy

Here's another recipe: Homemade Non Dairy Ice Cream
4 cups (1 can) Rich's Whip Non Dairy Whipped Topping
1 package Jello Pudding (check ingredients since not all are dairy free)
1/8 teaspoon salt

Mix together and then strain. Throw away extra clumps of jello mix. Place in ice cream maker and follow maker directions. At the last 5 minutes I mix in cookies or left over brownies. This will be a soft set but I place it in the back of my freezer overnight and then it's as close as you can get to real ice cream without milk.

New Layout

Here's a new LO about my son waking up on the wrong side of the bed most mornings when I take him to school. Don't ask me why I had my camera in my hand that day that I got these photos but I did. I can't think of one good reason that I would have been carrying it with me??? Enjoy!

Ahoy!

Here's the invitation for Colin's B-Day party. I used the Cuttlekids dies that were a pain in the butt since I had to cut so many pieces of little paper to get the look I wanted. Now I just have to find pirate party goodies without skulls, so far not an easy feat.

All Day Crop....

I attended my first crop today at my son's daycare. It was so refreshing to be around other obsessed scrapbookers for a few hours. I got a few pages done, attended a make-n-take and had lunch. All and all...time well spent. I'll post new pages soon.
On the allergy front, I met with our Senator's office on Friday. It was an extremely positive meeting and it seems that folks are willing to consider moving a bill along that would help provide insurance coverage for children who are unable to eat food and can only drink amino acid based formula. Hopefully a few small steps in the right direction.

I also discovered a new yummy snack for Colin.
1 Package Jello Cheesecake Pudding Mix
2 cups Rich's Whip Non Dairy Whipped Topping Thawed
1/4 cup Honey Smacks cereal
1/2 cup cantaloupe

I made the pudding with the whipped topping and stopped mixing when it was closer to yogurt consistency. In a cup I then layered the fruit, pudding and cereal. I then had a fake granola, fruit parfait for a dairy, oat and berry allergic kid. The even BIGGER news is that he actually ate it!

I love this photo and I posted it because I wanted to enjoy it a little more until I actually make the layout.
