Only about a month to go....

Till Colin gets to hang out with all of his Disney buddies on the big boat. To say he is excited is a major understatement. Poor kid, he keeps asking, "they are going to make me waffles right?" For those of you who are new here, Colin has multiple food allergies and an Eosinophilic disorder. Basically that means he has a few allergies that are like the regular ones you hear about in the news, milk and eggs, that are life threatening. He has a much larger list of allergies that while they aren't life threatening, cause severe discomfort, skin issues and damage in his gut. A lot of kids who have this disorder are unable to eat food at all and are fed through a G Tube in their tummy. We were able to avoid that step since we were able to find the foods that cause the damage and remove them from his diet. Needless to say, we eat a lot of chicken in our house, lol! But this is the reason that Colin has been taken to Disney so many times in his short life already. They are FANTASTIC at managing his allergies and for one week a year, our family feels a little more like everyone else. So we go in the off season, bring our umbrellas and cross our fingers for good weather. But the weather doesn't really matter because it really is all about the waffles :)

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzil. Pattern Paper: SEI. Buttons, Photo Corners, Turns and Brads: American Crafts. Letters, Journaling Cards: Reminisce. Other: Ribbon, Trim.

So we are starting to think about what we need for this trip, getting all of our forms and passports together and trying to figure out what we will do for food when we are not on the ship. It takes a lot of planning to travel with Colin but it's totally worth it and we are extremely appreciative that we even have the option to travel. So I am trying to get photos scrapped from previous vacations before getting a ton more photos to scrapbook. We will see how I do. I did a major purge of the 2000 photos on my hard drive, (remind to back those up). I think I'm done to 1800 but that is still a ton of photos that need to be scrapped. I'm thinking photo albums are in my future, lol!

Photo with Lion...check!

Photobucket
I can't believe our luck, talk about being in the right place at the right time, lol! We spent the weekend at Penn State for their annual Blue and White game. The weather was wonderful and there was lots to do for little ones. Colin started to get a little hot so he went to the carnival outside the stadium for a bit with his grandmother and Dad. As I'm watching the game I see that the lion is making his way over to where we are sitting. I start wishing that it wasn't so hot and that Colin was still watching the game. Sure enough, Colin walks in with his snow cone and a renewed spirit. (No crabby pants from being too hot). So we run to the edge of our section and Colin starts yelling, "Hey Lion, Hey Lion!" We ask for a photo and hand our kid over the fence so this complete stranger can hold my son and I can get the photo of a lifetime. I cannot believe Colin is looking and smiling! It seriously makes me insanely giddy that I got this photo! Colin was very happy to meet the Lion but also made it very clear that it wasn't really the Lion because there was a kid inside. He said, "I saw him, I saw his shoes too!"

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzil. Pattern Paper: Studio Calico, October Afternoon. Rub Ons: Hambly. Letters: American Crafts, Making Memories. Buttons: Creative Cafe. Brads. American Crafts. Stamp: Scarlet Lime.
I took this photo when I was learning how to use my new camera. When I saw those little feet I knew I wanted to do this LO. This is the weirdest habit that Colin has. (Well one of them at least). When he has a tough time falling asleep he will ask me this. He doesn't actually mean it, he wants to put his feet on my back. Still weird, but not as bad. Not that I think I will ever forget that he does this, but I wanted to make the LO just in case I need additional stories for embarrassment when he is in high school.

Basic Grey RAK!

Because I love my blog readers so much I want to celebrate 100 posts and 10,000 hits to Glue and Popsicle Sticks. This whole blog thing started as, "oh I need a blog to apply for a design team?" And has turned into so much more. I've made friendships, kept in touch with people who live far away as well as linked important information and resources for friends and family. It also helps a ton for trying to remember when things have happened in our life so when I sit down to scrapbook, I have a ready made timeline. So to celebrate I have a few extra things that I want to give away to one lucky blog reader. All you need to do is leave me a comment with a way to reach you if you win. Feel free to say hi, what your favorite thing about blogging is or just give me free stuff, lol! I enjoy reading comments and checking out your blogs when you stop by. So if this is your first time here, feel free to grab a cup off coffee and stay awhile! And if you are a regular thank you for reading and checking in, thank you very much!
I'll leave this contest open till Saturday at midnight, EST. I'll post the winner on Sunday, good luck!

So I promised a LO...

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzil. Pattern Paper: Basic Grey, Sassafrass Lass. Rip Strips: Studio Calico. Buttons: Creative Cafe. Sticker: Scenic Route. Chipboard Letters: American Crafts. Letter Stickers: Making Memories. Other: String, Cork.

And here it is. This was one of the seven that I had in progress that I finished up this weekend. Colin spent the weekend fishing with his grandparents and I headed to my LSS after dropping him off. I mean...I was in the neighborhood and I just happened to have cropping supplies in my van. You know, it was the least that I could do, lol! Anyway not too much new here. I have loads to do today and I want to use the "free time" I have today to get groceries and laundry completed. If I'm lucky, I might even get to sew this weekend. That would definetly be a four star weekend! Just as a heads up, I am planning a giveaway to celebrate hitting 100 posts, (I know I'm a bit late) and 10,000 hits, (I know a bit early). I haven't decided what it is yet but as soon as I do, I will post it as well as what you need to do to win. Take care and have a great Sunday!

Hope you are enjoying the weather....

We certainly are today. Don't laugh at my bird feet but I am wearing shoes that I could never chase after a toddler while wearing and I plan on enjoying every minute of it! Gotta run but I will be back to share my progress at last night's crop that I went to at the last minute.

How many LO's do you work on at a time?

I currently have 7 LO's in progress. Yep, you read that right, 7. I have no idea why I do this. I generally start my LO with cardstock, pattern paper and photos. I then decide what my title will be and then decide on placement. I always do embellishments last and I know I'm done when it just feels done. So sometimes, okay most times, after I get all of the major stuff done I just don't feel like finishing it. So then I start a new one. Hence why I have yet another photoless post. I'm hoping to kick myself in the pants and finish ALL of the LO's I have started either tonight or this weekend. The plus size to this method is that when I do finish them I will have a ton of new LO's to share. You know, as long as I don't start a new one, lol!

How do I do it?

I get asked this question a lot even though I don't think what I do on a daily basis is all that much. But today as I was having an holistic evaluation to help me take better care of myself, I actually started to realize what everyone is talking about. It is actually a bit insane how much I decide to take on but I continue to do it. Why? Because I love it! I love my job and enjoy helping others. I love my family and I don't mind being the glue that holds everything together. I also love being creative and I'm so glad that I've found this hobby. So to make it all work I have to skip other things. So I may not remember show and tell at school or ever clean my house, but I always get the important stuff done. I'm working on letting myself off the hook for all of the little things that I don't always get done. Speaking of which, I need to remember to put my taxes in the mail tomorrow, lol! So what do you skip so that you can do the things you love?

Sneak of a layout/technique!

I wanted to share a quick photo of a new technique, (new for me anyway), that I used on one of my recent LO's. I was planning on adding a few stitches when I tried wrapping the string around my button. I had already used pop up dots under my circles and I was able to thread the other side of the string under the circles as well. I think it really helps pull the busy pattern papers together and link them on the LO!
We have soccer practice tonight, did I mention that I'm a coach? I'm tired now just thinking about it, lol! I'm hoping to get a little nap in before starting so wish me luck! I need all of the energy that I can get to keep up with 10 4-6 year olds.
Take care and thanks for stopping by today!

Thank you Willy Wonka

For making artificially flavored candy that contains little to no nutritional content, (which means no allergic food proteins). The cute packaging in plastic eggs is a sweet bonus. I'll be honest. Easter stresses me out a bit. Eggs are the one food that really could threaten Colin's life. He's had significant reactions to small amounts of milk in the past. He's never touched an egg or has ingested a product that contains eggs. However, his egg numbers are way higher than his milk numbers. So as much as I have been enjoying all of the beautifully decorated Easter Eggs on my usual blog hopping tour, I unfortunately will not be emulating any of those techniques or photographing pretty eggs in baskets on this blog.
Ours will be plastic, fake and filled with not so good for you candy that is just perfect for Colin. :)

I guess that I forgot to mention...

That I was selected as a spotlight feature following GCD's design team call. I'm thrilled for the opportunity and truly love working with there products. I'll keep you posted as I get additional details, but I know that the feature will be in the next three months. I hopefully will be back soon with a "real" post. I'm currently trying to organize my time for the next few days. I'm hoping to have a relaxing weekend. With a little planning, it just might happen!

I just can't wait!

To see these pieces of chocolate. It seems like forever since the last time we were there. This is pretty much where we spend the ENTIRE summer. This place tires out our little man and makes for great photo opportunities, lol! Not to mention there are a few rides that I like to get on myself. So this is where we will be this weekend. And pretty much every weekend once it offically opens for the season. I. Just. Can't. Wait!

I stamp this weekend productive!

Even though I didn't do a ton of scrapping, I did a lot of things in preparation to scrap. I cleaned my room, I edited photos, I organized files and resized LO's. I also gave into the whole Twitter thing, got my driver's license renewed, my car inspected and my laundry done. I even did a little bit of shopping. Hopefully, now I will be ready for the busy week ahead of me.

Colin let me take photos of him yesterday before he left. He was excited to pose with his book bag and I even almost got eye contact. I'm glad he's home, I sure missed the little guy.

Here's a card that I completed when I asked Colin what he would say to his teacher on the first day of school. This is what he said...he just cracks me up!
Thanks for stopping by today! Have a happy Monday!

Am I a complete dork if....

I stare at my new driver's license all day?
I mean...wouldn't it be great if we could order wallets?
It only took me four photos to get a good one. :)
I'm off now for a late dinner date with my hubby.
Check back soon for some scrappy shares!

I'm working on a few posts.
One for organization.
One for a new technique I figured out.
Maybe even a giveaway.

It's amazing how much I can get done when it's quiet!

I'm glad it's Friday...

I am really ready for Spring.
Then the craziness will start.

Next week starts soccer.
So I will have 100 more reasons to laugh and smile.

Hershey Park will be open next weekend.
(Thank God!)

It's almost time for Blue and White Weekend.

Hershey will be open on weekends in May.

Then the pool will open.

I am just plain tired of being stuck in the house and I am ready for warmer weather and fun outside. It's almost here, it's almost here, it's almost here!

Happy Friday!

In my quest for being mother of the year...

I have learned a few tricks that I feel would only be fair to share with others. By far my favorite trick is my alliance with the Mom's Club. I've explained to my son that there are certain rules that I must follow to avoid getting kicked out of the club. These rules can vary from not letting him watch too much TV, Making him get out of the bath tub or brush his teeth. Typically anything that Colin should be doing but has decided, for whatever reason, that he doesn't want to. The conversation generally goes like this.

Colin: "I don't want to get out of the tub, I want to still play."
Mommy: "I know you like to play in the tub, but if I let you play much longer your fingers will get wrinkly and well I'll be breaking a Mom rule. It's my job to make sure that your fingers don't get wrinkly because I let you stay in the tub too long."
Colin: "Will you have to go in time out."
Mommy: "Sometimes."
Colin: "Well alright, I'll get out of the tub, but you tell the club that I want to play a long time tomorrow."
Mommy: "I'll talk to them, but rules are rules."

I figure I only have a few more months of this being effective but I'll take it!

Recent Projects

Did you ever photograph a LO and go, "I'm just not feeling it?" That happened with this one so I made a few changes and I am MUCH happier with it. I'm really working on getting faster with my scrapping so I'm trying not to go back and redo things. Sometimes you need to go with the flow and other times you just need to rewind the wind and try again!

Cardstock: Bazzil. Pattern Paper: Sassafrass Lass. Stickers: American Crafts, Making Memories, Cosmo Cricket. Buttons: Sassafrass Lass. Rip Strips: Studio Calico. Other: Thread.

I started most of this LO at last weekend's crop and added a few finishing touches at home. Colin wasn't super impressed. He tends to like the ones with his picture on them instead. Go figure :-)

Cardstock: Nicole Crafts. Pattern Paper and Rip Strips: Studio Calico. Pins: Heidi Grace. Stickers: American Crafts, Adorn It. Bling: Kaiser Craft. Brads: Queen and Company. Other: Buttons and String.

On a side note I have been making a few goals for myself to try to organize my time. I want to blog everyday, (helps keep me accountable to said goal list), eat everyday, (before you start freaking out that I forget to eat it's really a lot easier than you would think. I get really busy and after awhile you just aren't that hungry anymore). Plan meals for the week, (this should help with the whole eating thing). Remember my lunch at work, (and with that being said...I know I remembered it today but I have no idea where I put it, could be in the car or could be at home?) *sigh*
It's a work in progress.
Thanks for stopping by today!
